Polar Plunge

HUGE thank you and congrats to Madeleine and Toby Hester for representing our club at the Polar Plunge and raising $1000.00 for Special Olympics.  Check out this article in the Times Free Press - their picture even made the paper!

Two down

Well, clubmembers, two western ski trips are behind us.  It sounds like they had a fun time - see the February newsletter for the recap on Taos.  I'm sure we'll hear more about Red Mountain soon.  I'm sure those folks scheduled to go to Steamboat Springs are getting their skis ready and mentally packing.  Oddly, the south is being plunged into a cold spell, while they are enjoying warm temps out west.  Keep thinking snow and wish your race team luck as they head to Beech this weekend!

First race this season a success!

Six racers skied the mighty Appalachian Ski Mountain and those racers were outstanding in starting the team out in second place for the season after the first race! Saturday highlights included 3rd place finishes by Wes Carroll and Marla Hood. Sunday highlights were just unreal! That was the day Wes 'Ligety' Carroll blew his flight away to grab a first place finish and Kevin 'the Comeback Racer' Cleek finished 3rd in a very, very difficult flight 3....yes FLIGHT 3!!!!! Not only that, but Kevin was placed 10th…dead last in his flight going into his race so to place in that group was truly a remarkable feat!! Congrats to both for those big finishes! What really helped our team jump to 2nd place on Sunday was that every other racer on Team Chattanooga finished a solid 4th or 5th which brought in valuable points for the day! Congrats to all who raced : Kevin Cleek, Megan Wigginton, David Conner, Dan Carroll, Wes Carroll, and Marla Hood...it truly was a fantastic start to the season!

Holiday Party

We had a fabulous holiday party on December 2.  We asked for $10 per person or $15 per couple to attend and donated this amount to the Chattanooga Food Bank to help our neighbors this holiday season.  We had good food, a DJ, door prizes, some raffles, and a visit from Santa Claus.  Hoping to post pictures soon!  Wishing everyone all the best for 2015!

Fall Fun

Check out the club pictures from the Crescent Ski Council Fall Conference in Gatlinburg on our Club Photos.  It was Halloween weekend, which meant fun with costumes.  Rebekah went as the Ebola Virus, spraying unsuspecting victims with silly string.  Luckily Chuck was always close by, to spray the poor victims with antibacterial in attempts to prevent the violent contagion.  The rest of our club representatives went as the band singing "What Does the Fox Say" with Debbie being the hottest Fox!  It also snowed about 8 inches that weekend.  It sounds like they had a fun time.  Think about joining the Spring Conference in Myrtle Beach.
We also had a booth at the Chickamauga Marathon on November 9 to spread the word about our club.  Thanks to all the volunteers, and congratulations to all the marathoners!

IRONMAN! Chattanooga

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that helped with the first ever Ironman Chattanooga, on Sunday, September 28, 2014.
Bike Special Needs was our assigned location and it was a wild and crazy ride.  We helped some incredible athletes in the middle of their 112 mile bike ride.  They had a rough start, due to tacks and oil in the road, but hopefully our smiling faces and the handling of the bags they had packed for their physical support helped reassure them that we in Chattanooga were good people and happy to have them in our great city.  Congratulations to all Iron Men and Women who participated - it was an honor to serve you.  Check out photos on our Club Photos section.
