Twenty brave members of our ski club paddled in the Chattanooga Dragon Boat races on May 4th.  Weellll, it wasn't a complete wash out, but it was close.  It just happened to rain ALL day.  We paddled at 8:30 in the morning, while it was just drizzling.  We came in second in our heat of four boats.  It continued to rain, harder and harder, as we fell further down the standings.  As we found ourselves in 12th place (out of 53 teams), it was announced that the second round of races would not be held and only the top 12 teams would go into the finals - and there were still several teams that had not yet paddled.  When we fell into 13th, then 14th place we actually managed to cheer; I've never seen the Ski Club so happy to lose before!  We ended up 17th out of 53 teams and raised almost $3000 for the Children's Hospital Foundation.
Thank you to all who paddled, getting soaked that day.  Thank you to all who supported us.  And thank you to all who raised money and all who donated generously to support the children of this community.  Way to go team!

Membership Dues

Membership renewals are due July 1st of each year.  The Chattanooga Ski Club has held membership dues at $25 per single and $35 per family for more than 20 years.  There will be no increase this year.  These are the lowest membership dues of any club in the Crescent Ski Council.

• Memberships that are not renewed by September 1 will be removed from the club roll.
• Once a membership is removed from the active roll, a new membership application is required.

The last race of the season was at Sugar Mountain, Feb. 23 and 24.  And your race team brought it ALL!  12 racers participated - a great effort!  On Saturday, Buddy and Angelika got a 3rd place; Megan, Chase, and Kevin got a 2nd place; and Roy placed 1st.  The Chattanooga Ski Club race team, for the first time EVER, placed FIRST for the day.
On Sunday, we kept the heat on.  Angelika got a 3rd place; and Wes, Chase, and Roy all placed 1st in their Flights.  And the team TIED for first place for the day.  But wait, there's more....   For the season, we are bringin home hardware, again.  Third place, Western Division!  Waaahoooo.
Kudos to the rest of our racers:  Tom, Marla, Chuck, Butch, Dan; and to Beverly and Ben Cleek for trying to qualify.  Ben won a prize for cutest skier ever - no actually, he had a non-qualifying time of  6:07.10  , that's 367.10 seconds;  his prize was for most persistent.
